WORK WITH ME

Every project is a little different, but the process doesn’t need to be complicated. Here’s what you can expect when you work with me, from your first inquiry to the final edit.

1. TELL ME ABOUT YOUR PROJECT

Start by using the editing fee calculator to get an estimate price for your project. You can then use my form or email me to tell me a little about your project. I'll ask to see your manuscript and any relevant supporting documents before providing the final quote.

If you're unsure as to whether we'll be a good fit, you can opt for a $80 preliminary assessment of up to 1,000 words. I'll review your work and provide a brief sample of my editorial approach. If you decide to work with me, the $80 will be credited toward your final invoice.

2. RESERVE YOUR SPOT

Once we've agreed to work together and settled on a timeline, I'll send you a contract.  After you return the signed contract, I'll send an invoice for a 50% deposit, payable within three business days.

Your deposit secures your place in my schedule and will be credited towards your final invoice. Because I reserve this time specifically for your project, deposits are non-refundable if you cancel. If something comes up and you need to change your dates, I’ll do my best to accommodate you, subject to availability.

3. SEND YOUR MATERIALS

Please submit your final files as Word, Pages, or Google Docs documents, along with any supplementary materials, at least 24 hours before our agreed-upon start date. This is also the time to let me know about any style preferences, concerns, or particular issues you’d like me to pay attention to.

The version you submit at this stage will be the version I edit, so please make sure you’ve completed any changes you want to make beforehand.

4. I GET TO WORK

For full transparency, I make all edits, comments, and suggestions using Track Changes. Depending on the level of editing we’ve agreed upon, I’ll also include an editorial letter or report explaining my recommendations and suggesting next steps.

5. DELIVERY & FOLLOW UP

Once I’ve finished your edit or translation, I’ll return your completed files, along with any accompanying editorial letter or report and your final invoice. The remaining balance is due within 14 days of receipt.

If you have questions about my edits, I’m happy to answer reasonable follow-up questions by email. If you’d like more extensive support—or want my help implementing my recommendations—we can arrange an additional round of editing or consultation.
